Well, women are stained because the Bible says so in Genesis. The abortion issue was smuggled in to Protestant churches from Catholic doctrine as an attempt to gain political power. For most of the history of Evangelical churches, they stayed out of politics, viewing it as “worldly” and “sinful” (or at least distasteful).

Almost any tradition of Christianity can find some support for their positions in the Bible somewhere.

The Old Testament’s Ten Commandments really aren’t ten: There are 513 commandments which are viewed as abominations to the Lord all in the same section of Exodus. Very few churches enforce the commandment against eating shellfish, even though that’s just as much an abomination as adultery.
