Speaking of failing, The Kid passed all his classes for the year but, I’m holding him back in the fourth grade next year. I don’t know which of us is unhappier.

That is not a bad idea at all.
Sometimes kids are just not cognitively ready for school when we put them in school and it really begins to show up in fourth grade when much more independent reading, homework and self control is required.

If we had sent the teen to school I would have waited till he was 6ish or 7 years old.
