What it really is is a way for the religious crowd to claim a win. It’s inevitable that same-sex marriage will become the law of the land in the next 5 years, so they’re trying to decouple marriage from the law so they can say “The government can’t tell me who to marry!”

I don’t care what they call it as long as people enjoy the same rights regardless of sexual orientation.
