It’s more insidious than that, because he said “enemy of the American people,” i.e. the same people whose popular vote he lost. His dangerous populism and open desire to only serve the minority who voted for him have resulted in subtly de-legitimizing the rest of us as “real” Americans. That was absolutely on purpose and part of the nascent narrative he’s forming that casts all dissent as treason against “the people” and seeks to empower his supporters to see protests as an existential threat and to respond to them with brutal violence.

I was speaking more to the moron you’re conversing with in tweets, but I thought after Der Trumpenfuhrer’s Thursday meltdown, where he explicitly stated that Republicans only represent those who voted for them that it was pretty clear he thinks those of us who think he’s a lying crock of shit are not “the American people.”

As for this little nimrod’s idea that just saying Trump needs to “calm down” ignores what is pretty obvious to everybody whose head is not crammed up their own ass: Trump is saying this shit because he believes it. He believes those who criticize him, who point out that his not wearing clothes, are enemies of him and any who support him. And when you view someone as your enemy, you can use that to justify any actions you take against them.
