Right, so it’s extra weird he didn’t just say so when his underlings have admitted as much. I mean, unless he asserts that he got some information from the IC via his official capacity as President how is this supposed to be better? Of course he can’t say that either because he’s trapped himself into a corner where if he says he can’t name the source because it’s classified then that’s a tacit admission that he divulged classified information.

He’s really painted himself into a tight, fucked up little corner with this one. When it’s all over his best possible outcome is that he encouraged Congress to go on a wild goose chase launching an investigation for nothing instead of just admitting he flew off the handle and made a reckless allegation based on nothing more than a talk radio asshole’s insane fever dream.

Maybe Trump knows deep down inside that Levin and Breitbart are not reliable sources of information, at least to most sane people, but the NYT is considered reliable (except by Trump himself when it suits him to say so).

OTOH Trump has a knack for saying whatever he thinks people want to hear at any certain time. Since he’s the consummate bullshitter, he doesn’t give a fuck whether Statement A contradicts Statement B, because A was true because he said it, and now B is true because he said it. Any other explanation is fake news.

Plus, he has no sense of responsibility and is incapable of admitting he’s wrong.

Great combination of attributes for the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth, right?
