Yes, they do stay. Trump was selected by a majority of the electors, and he is the President, for better or worse (worse, of course), at least until he is removed or his term ends.

It is bizarre that you could literally break the law to gain the presidency and yet
- as you say above and
- maybe even have the power to pardon yourself for that very crime

(I don’t happen to think so…that would be perverse)
