I think what Dershowitz is doing here is trying to pad his Trump-booster resumé by attempting to gin up outrage among the base-bots that their idol, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!1!1! is being investigated like some common criminal, and mainly as a “political” vendetta.
He’s probably figuring (and, disgracefully, likely correctly) that the red-MAGA-hat crowd aren’t going to give two farts in the wind how shady, dishonest, or compromised Donald Trump might be: they’ve been convinced/convinced themselves that Trump’s “business success” proves him some sort of “genius”; and that rather than admit they’ve voted for an incompetent charlatan as President, will simply double down on their support.

Dershowitz will do or say anything to keep Bibi’s Stooge in the Oval Office.
