AFAICT - and a quick Wiki probe can confirm - it’s the other way round: many (most?) Iranian ballistic missile systems are domestically made, but derived from North Korean designs/originals (NoKo: Arsenal Of Dictatorship). Their origins go back, ultimately, to old Soviet-era weapons systems, but have been continually up-engineered and up-teched. Which the Norks have made into a (?) thriving export business, and which the Iranians latched onto. Their latest generation of missiles are, I think, the Fateh series: SRBMs whose main improvements seem to been to their guidance systems. Which investment seems to have been borne out if the Al-Asad/Erbil attacks are the evidence.

The just showed that their guidance is a hell of a lot more accurate than a 500 meter circular error probability given in Wikipedia for the old SCUD it is derived from. This looks more like a five meter CEP….good enough for individual buildings.
