re: #1751 LGoPs Well it partly depended on WHEN you served; by 1970 when I got there, everyone knew we were gonna pull out and had "bad attitudes" about combat patrolling or operations - no one wanted to be the last guy killed over there. So there was some druggies even in front line units, but they didn't last long.
In the 65-69 classes it was much different. And Charlie didn't have quite as much enthusiasm after Tet, until our presidential candidates started talking about peace talks and hundreds of thousands of Americans turned out to march against the war.
