I don’t care what they call it as long as people enjoy the same rights regardless of sexual orientation.

I would assume calling it “marriage” means all laws and regulations pertaining to marriage will be in effect. Calling it “civil union” narrows the legal effects to legislation and regulations that mention that term specifically.
