Not one, but two of the holistic health fan antivaxxers I know are down with the flu. Unfortunately, the 11 year old son of one of them is also sick.
I realize that the vaccine is not overly effective this year for various reasons, but it is a hell of a lot better than nothing.

The idea that “the vaccine is not very effective this year” is a rather pernicious framing of flu vaccines, promoted by woo meisters and others to claim a black-or-white fallacy: If the vaccine is not 100% effective, then it’s worthless.

I got the vaccine last November. About ten days ago I came down with what might be considered symptoms of the flu: elevated temperature, loss of appetite, skin hurt, muscles ached, &c.

But all of those were significantly less than a full-blown case of the flu, and only lasted about two days.
