I met a Vietnamese who thought “John Wayne” was a character and the actor who played was named something else. I said, “Oh. That would be Marion Morrison.”
I am still not sure the chap was wrong.

Ha! That’s brilliant. But yeah I just hate those stupid memes where there’s a picture of Wayne side by side with a Millennial and those some dumb caption like “They don’t make men like this anymore.” My own grandfather didn’t serve in WWII(he was 4F due to an injury) so I don’t think Wayne was a “pussy” or anything like that for not serving in WWII but he wasn’t a hero and he was certainly a bigot. I like some of his movies but tehre are others from that era that I prefer much more and some of them like Jimmy Stewart actually were heroes.
