We discussed poll watchers in my poll worker training yesterday. They are not able to ask the voter _anything_. They can go through the chief inspector only. After the voter has left the building then exit pollers and the like can talk to them, but not in the polling place.

Photo ID can be used to register at the polls, in which case we do have to see it but if already registered, the voter need only say his/her name and address out loud.

I’m guessing the laws vary by state. In Mass. the law states that anybody can issue a challenge at any time. What state did you do your training in?
