One of my friends on a Lincoln forum had a Town Car with 800,000 original miles. He lost it when a spark plug blew out of the head; the threads had gotten so brittle from that many heat cycles that the threads themselves let go and the engine compression ripped plug, threads, and all.

My brother-in-law a few months ago inherited a ‘65 Ford Thunderbird from an engineer friend who died. The engineer purchased the car and parked it in a garage, never driving it.

My brother-in-law now has it in the shop having all the seals and gaskets changed on it so it can be driven—other than that, the car is in perfect condition, he says.
