I’ve read (but have no idea if it is true or not) that the best way to escape a bear attack on foot is to run down hill. Apparently, a bear’s front legs are shorter than their hind legs and that makes it difficult for them to move quickly down hill.

Personally, I feel the best way to avoid a bear attack is to not be in places where there are bears.
