Any biology grad student who has created a recombinant plasmid has technically performed some sort of “intelligent design”.

I just did this last semester, as an undergrad. The equipment for this is getting pretty cheap nowadays.

It wasn’t a very good design, though. They all died the first time we tried it. (didn’t transform correctly, and they wound up all getting killed by the antibioitic the first time round)
