It’s not “role-playing”, you misunderstand… a “bear” is simply a hairy, somewhat heavy-set gay man. Bears, cubs, twinks, etc… it’s about body types.

I think it’s fair to say you also see similar attitudes about things like grooming, demeanor, etc amongst the body types though. At least in my experience.
