They seem to want to ignore the fact that the Republicans who did champion civil rights were usually liberal or moderate ones and likewise the democrats who opposed civil rights were usually conservative ones. Civil rights was about liberalism read moving forward and getting rid of way outdated and useless laws segregating the laws and conservatism read keeping the old ways. I’d ask numbnuts to read up on the conservative coaltion- the group of conservative Republicans and southern Democrats who dominated Congress from 1937-1964.
