re: #178 Dr Lizardo

Regarding the MV Sewol disaster in South Korea, I came across this in Yonhap.

Of course, authorities are still performing a search and rescue operation and the ship has yet to be righted. Until then, it’s all speculative; however, a sudden load shift on the car deck could explain that “thumping sound” survivors recall hearing as well as causing the ship toll to port.

It’s an awful tragedy, but also one which they might not have been able to avoid. When people are frightened and confused, they may not act in their own interest, and might hear something totally contrary to what’s being said, not to mention memories of those events being unclear as well as tainted by grief.

When I read that, I thought about how libertarians would act on a sinking ship. “Nobody orders me around.”
