And my (rather depressing) thought is that if he thought there was a way to undo this goddamn catastrophe, he would do it, but the only options might be salting the earth in his wake, and that’s something he probably doesn’t want to do. Not for Trump’s sake, but for the integrity of the entire gov’t going forward’s sake.

A lot of people really wanted Obama to be the adult in the room and save us from ourselves, ignoring that the reality of being an adult is doing what he did today.

And now people are disappointed because what they really wanted was a superhuman savior who would somehow magically open people’s eyes to the mess that’s coming in such a way that it would miraculously divert it and instead the EC would present Hillary with a unicorn and the presidency or something. I don’t know. It remains incredibly unclear what Obama was actually supposed to accomplish, especially given the reality of how much people listen to him as demonstrated by Republicans over the last 8 years, but apparently he failed at it according to the left.

But hey, let’s all just give up now! HOORAY!

Fuck that, I may need to check out from politics for the rest of the day if that’s what it’s going to consist of. When the emotional reactions are past and we’re ready to talk pragmatics instead of blame and woe and doom and gloom, then we can finally start to get somewhere.
