It amazes me Joe how these people did see through Reagan. Well at least my grandparents hometown did- not sure about yours but how they could see through Reagan but not Trump. Maybe it was the WWII generation who truly did remember life before the New Deal programs? I don’t know but it saddens me. I was in Johnstown this past summer since my grandma wanted to visit her parents and siblings’ gravesites one last time and we also met one of my mom’s cousins too. I was happy to find out that mom’s cousin is like minded to us. It’s sad because these areas. A lot of these people are children or grandchildren of immigrants themselves. The “Hunkies” as they called Eastern European immigrants like my mom’s grandfolks. I am just glad Mom with that in her background and a first generation American granddaughter hasn’t fallen towards nativism, in fact Mom has become quite proud and vocal about her immigrant grandparents and wishing the same for other immigrants.
