Starts there but get’s reinforced by what he hears - or doesn’t hear - on Sunday’s I think. How many preachers emphasize 1 Tim chapter 2 promoting keeping women in their place vs chapter 6 saying that riches, especially eagerness to gain them, are a trap? There are other even less subtle manipulations that occur in all churches (saying this as a believer, I’ll add) to direct people’s behaviors. Non-church entities using religious sounding language (I’ma looking at you Faux News) is perhaps the least subtle & most effective manipulation of them all.

The article hits the religious angle, with a counter-stereotypical statement that religion actually makes gun hoarding less common. The real value is going to be in the papers, like the Harvard study, cited there.
