You came into the conversation on some America isn’t a colonizer stuff that completely ignores how fucked up shit still is for Natives. We can find a new word if that works better. But ain’t shit sweet about Gaza OR the rez here or in Canada.

You can make your personal choices as you see fit and still acknowledge what the system is doing. Just give a damn about and listen to the people as much as you want to wear or eat something. Love the people and their culture.

This is where we are talking past each other, I think. Talking about cultural colonization and making absurd claims like “learn your language or whites will learn it for you” completely ignores and trivializes concrete and utterly tangible systemic racism and disparities in education, income, administration of law enforcement and health care.

Attacking a teenage girl for wearing a dress or attacking me for…wait for it…wearing a dress*…is really fucking missing the ball. There are people on reservations right now fighting heart disease and have no medical care within 200 miles.

It isn’t colonization. It’s neglect.

*Not even remotely aiming that at you, of course.
