Yep. Though in Madison, WI it gets worse when you hit middle school. See they have this nice big relatively new Juvie facility and they hate to see empty beds there < spit >. So what might have been an in house suspension in 5th grade is an automatic arrest in 6th grade. Only time that upset people was when a pretty white blond girl was arrested instead of a minority. But that just got her sprung; the process remains the same from what I have heard.

But that was why we moved north to Hayward when we did. Better psych care (yep, up here in the boonies) and much saner school systems. He’s actually getting the cares he needs unlike what would have happened if we’d been typical parents and stayed in Madison.

And yet my priest still lays awake at night worrying for his 2 sons - brothers now 13 adopted from Sierra Leon - even here.
