I think part of the problem is animosities being carried from the old country to the new, as was conveniently & disturbingly just illustrated here upthread. People need to leave that haterade shit over there or we’ll end up being a nation of Gellers constantly snarling & nipping at the febrile hallucinations brought on by mutual fears & hatreds.

We don’t need to re-fight the Crusades here in America; we don’t need to renact the Inquisition; we don’t need to wrestle with the Sunni-Shia schism; we don’t need to import the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; etc.

We’d be behaving really, really, profoundly stupidly if we did any of those things. All cultures & religions are welcome here AFAIC, but leave your effing hate-baggage at the door. If you can’t, then you should STFU and GTFO so the rest of us can live in peace.
