You know, it was always wrong to use Weimar as our model. Weimar institutions weren’t as strong as ours had been. They’ve slowly been destroying them whenever they can. The judiciary is continuing to be lined with Trump appointees including 2 at the top. Every federal department has some corruption problem.

Germany has Weimar conditions, at least in some of its Eastern states, where the right-wing AfD and the leftist Die Linken (composed of former communist party and the extreme left wing of the socialist party) command a majority of votes between them, making it impossible to form a majority government without taking one or the other of them on board.

That is exactly what the whole country looked like in 1933…
