From Ronan Farrow, The New Yorker

A typical “progressive” Trump supporter.

“It’s stuff he heard from that psychopath Alex Jones and those echo chambers on the Internet,” his sister Denissa Crowl, who is also a nurse, told me.

Mentioned it before, but this is the less violent version of what happened to my ‘independent voting’ friend when he discovered Rush Limbaugh 30-odd years ago. At age 20, no less.

I still, to this day, cannot wrap my head around being 20 and deciding you want to live the rest of your life with Archie Bunker as your role model. It was the 80s, so being smack dab in the Reagan years didn’t help.

Started out as laughing at the jolly fat man on the radio making fun of hippies. 22 years later, he’s in a car with his then 5 year old son, dropping the phrase “jungle bunny” because whatever yapping chancre sore on right wing Philly talk radio is complaining about political correctness.

The weird thing is he insists that he stopped listening to Limbaugh years ago, borderline denying he ever did it. Still listens to the conservative talk station, though. He’s a huge fan of Michael Smerconish. I think he latched on to Smerconish when he made the transition to ‘independent’ in Obama’ terms, although I guarantee that unlike Smerconish, my bud never voted for Obama.

The Limbaugh denial thing is odd, too. This guy used to be crazy for Blue Oyster Cult and the NBA, and now looks at you funny when you bring it up. He used to take a personal day to watch the NBA draft. Now? He either pretends these things never happened or that it was something he was into for like a few days and then moved on.

Getting married and having kids affects people in strange ways sometimes, I guess.
