People make a lot of noise about Jobs In The Real World. I have never had a closed-book test in an office (outside of certification exams). I have never been told “eyes front”. I don’t work for more than a 4-hour day (I’m in IT), because I make mistakes and I assume that SATV would rather I didn’t make them.

The same apply to these corporate jobs. They need to be able to micromanage you in your own home. They need to see everything you doing so they can make sure you actually working as if you showing up and actually working is not enough. They have to see it with their own eyes.

The wild thing is people don’t work like that *at work* in their office building. Everyone fucks around and goofs off at work cuz it’s literally impossible to maintain constant focus and attention for more than an hour. Max useful work time is like 4 hours or something
