If much of anything gets into the compressor blades, the turbines tear themselves up.

I know, but does that realistically ever happen in flight?
did some googleing on single/dual engines for navy planes, and (emergency) landings with them, and found this: tailspinstales.blogspot.com well written, thought I’d share.
