This is a different situation but I once persuaded an acquaintance to work until she reached full SS retirement age. She was not someone who ever saved money and I wanted her to have sufficient monthly income when she finally retired. For most people, Social Security is their primary (or only) income.

I’m grateful that I have the ability to consider options. Many people my age don’t have a choice, because of lack of employment or health issues. I have a job with bennies, a nest egg, and good health. So I can take my time to mull over the decision.
