Oh, and just to give you a very recent example, here’s the story of a Southern Baptist pastor who was lacerated by a judge from the bench because the pastor brought on a sexual predator as youth pastor.
“You didn’t take a fraction of the efforts that I would call traditional and appropriate and, in hindsight, not compassionate,” Wisch told Kizer from his bench. “… When there are minors involved and it’s clearly a crime, sometimes you have to quarantine part of the flock until you find out if it’s rabies or something weird and go from there.”
The whole thing is worth a read because it demonstrates my two points about protecting the leadership and patriarchy in action. Not even the girl’s parents believed her.
