In case anyone forgot: After the Christchurch shooting, New Zealand got new gun restrictions passed in like three weeks.

Except that I doubt that New Zealand has a well-financed, all-pervasive “gun lobby” which has taken the time to buy up enough of the political structure to prevent such awful occurrences*.

Nor, AFAICT, a nearly-all-pervasive culture of glorifying guns and violence as part of the core national identity.

NOTE: “awful occurrences” is a [sarc] comment on the “NRA mentality” - the “awful occurrences” being gun-control legislation, not the mass-murders.
