Sincere question. These people are racists but insist they are not. What is their motivation for denial? Why not just be loud and proud? Plenty of their social group are proud racists.

Ana Marie Cox’s podcast is about this issue today. Basically, the way many white people unconsciously internalize whiteness leaves them with a very large blind spot to their own racist acts (I’m not all the way through the pod, but that’s what I’ve gathered thus far).
