You need to teach your kid to trust the vast network of reliable media and real experts - that if something horrible happens, then it will come out on most of the RELIABLE media, that the actually educated and respected people will talk about it.

Your child may be a skeptic, but that should be easy to fix by teaching him or her to be a BETTER skeptic. To learn to apply skeptical criteria to other skeptics.

I told him he can & needs to do the research himself.

There is no longer any excuse. He knows how to use the internet, and wrote some very good papers in HS. I know he can do it.

Just needs to be reminded everyonce in a while.
