True, but companies generally THINK it will, which is why they commonly fall back on that strategy.
For example, awhile back I remember a story about Comcast tech in a Comcast van doing some improper things and getting busted for it. Comcast said it wasn’t actually their problem because this was a third party contractor that worked on behalf of Comcast. They just cut the cord with the contractor, gave themselves a pat on the back and resumed business as usual.
