GOP had opportunity to impose immigration reform under Trump. Congress refused to do anything. Congress had opportunity to do major immigration reform under Obama, but GOP kneecapped that precisely because they wanted to keep immigration levels low.

White nationalist policies are the bedrock principle driving GOP immigration policy.

They don’t care that immigrants are seeking asylum, which is legal immigration. They want to deny those people any rights at all, which itself is a violation of human rights law.
