I still think building the mosque / community center is a bad idea.

the JCC and the Y both have the occasional overtly religious event, but mostly they’re activity centers. There’s a pool (there’s women’s hours and men’s hours and mixed hours, so the orthodox should have their chance too) and a gym (with classes), a speakers’ series, screenings of movies that really don’t have enough audience to book into a theater, there’s an event space that people may rent for weddings or other events (and a kitchen in compliance with religious dietary restrictions), holiday dinners for people who don’t have nearby family to celebrate with, a seniors social club, childcare classes and playgroups when the weather doesn’t allow for going to the park, etc

I’m pretty sure the Jewish Singles events are only of interest to Jews, but I know I’ve seen plenty of goyim at the comedy nights.
