Three police officers shot by gunman. At a Gloucester Township Police station in New Jersey. The gunman was killed.

The police officers are in the hospital, one in serious condition.

The gunman was apparently being processed at the station when he grabbed for the police officer’s gun. He had been arrested on domestic violence charges.

The person had been arrested on a domestic violence charge, but while being processed in the station, the person grabbed one of the officers’ guns and began firing, said Deputy Chief David Harkins in a brief statement to the media.

One of the officers was shot in the abdomen, just below their bulletproof vest, Harkins said. Two of the other officers were wounded.

The police returned fire and killed the assailant, the deputy chief said.

The officer who was shot in the abdomen was taken to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden, and remains in stable condition.

The assailant’s body is still inside the Gloucester Township Police Department’s headquarters, while the investigation continues.
