Yes, Chikatilo was sort of the Ukrainian “Ed Gein” iirc, wasn’t he, although Gein had fewer actual victims and was more of a body snatcher? Gein didn’t eat body parts, though, he made “useful” items from them, including skulls for bowls and human skin for various items, including masks. Also, Gein spent the rest of his life in a mental institution and Chikatilo was executed for the 50+ murders he committed.

Ed Gein only had two victims; he was, as you said, much more of a body snatcher. Nonetheless, he had a profound impact on popular culture, spawning Norman Bates, Buffalo Bill (Jame Gumb) and Leatherface.
