re: #180 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))
Famous George Carlin quote: āThink of how stupid the average person is, and remember that half of them are stupider than thatā.
Now, imagine system in which the stupid half control a majority of the electoral vote.
Iāve often wondered whether thereās a correlation between hardcore religious belief and susceptibility to misinformation or outright disinformation; it would seem to me that people who are particularly hardcore in their beliefs are basically primed to believe in almost anything (as long as it fits their general worldview) despite the most overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It would explain why so many of those folks so easily fall for conspiracy theories.
Mind you, Iām not talking about your average person who maybe goes to church on Easter or Christmas or for a wedding ceremony - Iām talking about those individuals who are essentially borderline fanatics about their beliefs.
Of course, itās not just religious beliefsā¦.indeed, fanaticism has been seen in more secular matters.
