From the early discussions of the Italian lockouts, it became uncomfortably reasonably to me that the American populace is unwilling to fight a protracted, hardcore lockdown that is needed to avoid large numbers of deaths.

No better example the past month can be found than Gov. DeSantis, or for that matter the Iowa Governor, or the Republicans in the Kansas legislature that overturned their governor’s orders.

It’s not that easy, even in Italy - Italians are very much a “don’t tell me what to do” sort of people. Czechs are much the same. They’ll comply at first, but now - three weeks in to a quasi-lockdown - Czechs are getting restive.
