re: #175 HappyWarrior

Indeed, I have seen this with my own brother. He seems to think it’s crazy to think that a conservative court would overturn not just Roe but also Eisenstadt and even Griswold. You’re right about our generation. So many of them don’t think about the hard fought won battles of the past. It’s so frustrating and I think it’s why so many of them fall for “revolutionaries” like Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders that promise them revolutions rather than actually thinking about where we are and how we got here and where we’re going.

Our generation are a product of this country’s “instant gratification” culture. If we can’t have it now, then it’s not worth having. It’s why “revolution” seems so inviting, particularly to the younger crowd, because revolutions mean “instant” change with a minimum amount of effort. Why spend years or decades fighting to get people into office who will change things when you can just force change on others and expect them to accept it? Add in the power of the Internet to give them the false impression that their “revolution” enjoys way more support than it really does and you keep getting the Bros who make a lot of noise and then sit around getting drunk while they mutter darkly that the only reason nothing changes is because a dark conspiracy thwarts their efforts.
