Wow.

When someone like me definitively comes out and says the right wing is a bunch of fascist assholes and they SUCK, it’s very important for their most influential demagogues to mount a smear campaign against the heretic.

Not just to discredit the target, although that’s the most important goal. But the viciousness is also a message to anyone else who might be having second thoughts about the movement, letting them know they’re in for a world of hurt if they follow me.

And it worked pretty well - very few of the bloggers who had previously been friends and allies backed me up. I’m eternally grateful to the ones who did, like lawhawk.
