Money down that in the president’s fruit loop of a brain, he’s afraid that people will look at Mar-a-Lago being connected to early cases of Covid19 diagnosis in Florida, so he has to formulate an explanation in which it’s actually one of his enemies (the entirety of New York) that’s to blame.

Simpler explanation: He’s been planning to blame his failures on blue states for weeks. First he accused them of being the cause of the “hoax” that was threatening his reelection, then he attacked them for shutting things down when the market got jittery, and in recent days he’s accused them of lying about the need for equipment to explain why his own half-assed efforts have led to a massive deficit of necessary tools to fight the virus.

So the obvious next step is to accuse those states of being responsible for the spread of the virus, because (unsurprisingly) red state govs are kissing his ass while going along with his insistence that closing things down was “worse” than acting as things were fine.
