How the fuck did Rittenhouse get the weapons claim dismissed? That one was a slam dunk and now it has been taken off the table.

The judge said that only weapons under a certain length applied to the statute, made some vague noises about the law being a terribly written law, and tossed the charge. It happened at the last minute because, apparently, criminal law generally doesn’t have the concept of a “motion to dismiss” like we see all the time in civil law.
