If anything I think Alec caught more shit than he’d otherwise be due because he’s such a lefty and nominal gay rights supporter. It was a combination of he should have fucking known better and people simply being fed up with his penchant for rants / temper tantrums. He’d already used up a lot of people’s forgiveness from when that voicemail message to his daughter went viral. Dude’s got to learn to chill the hell out.
