Ah, so. I’ll be 74 this month, and they didn’t have the sugar cubes or tuberculin tests for us. But those small pox jabs, a dozen or more needle pricks; don’t remember anything else. I’ve enjoyed excellent health for the most part of my life, though I was quite ill for over a week once when I was 6 or 7—even hallucinating, in a darkened room—could have been measles, because I remember scratching. A lot of kids in the orphanage were sick.
