You folks have some amazing breakfasts in your memories and your future, I hope including tomorrow morning. We should paint the barn and do a cookbook.

I’m realizing that the experience of the meal is relative not only to circumstances like my IV experience, but also to things like geographical location.

For instance, like with DD’s Istanbul street food, I remember being kind of wrecked on a morning in Monterrey, Mexico, with not many pesos in my pocket, and wondering into this little place that specialized in goat. A small price, a slab of meat and sauce slapped into a tortilla, and heaven.

San Francisco? Don’t remember a single breakfast there, or even whether it was a thing. Of course I was there circa 1968-1971 and there is much I don’t remember.

New Orleans? I guess turtle soup at Commander’s, although that’s more of a brunch thing (but then most of my breakfasts are brunchy).

New York? Besides my own huevos rancheros, chopped pickled herring on fresh bagels (plural; I couldn’t stop eating this) with both butter and cream cheese.

Northwest Louisiana, where I am now? I’ve said it before: leftover pumpkin pie and strong coffee with rum, the key to world peace.

I guess it’s all good. For sure y’all have nominated some hall of fame candidates.
