I repeat my earlier question: what’s the required body count for a mass murder to meet the new threshold for being an act of terrorism?

in my thinking, body count is not relevant. no one has to die for something to be an act of terrorism.

otoh, a single individual kills a lot of people with no notice or warning and then kills himself. i dont see how this can be terrorism. he maybe made a statement sure. but he gets nothing from the government. no action or political change. he didnt even ask it for anything or threaten if he didnt get it.

he lost. it’s over. he gets nothing from the government. he doesnt get credit for “Starting a movement” or “conversation”.

if he’s part of a group who will follow in his tracks and they make themselves known, then maybe….

else hes just a maniac, a mass killer.

if we’re trying to figure out after the fact whether an act was terrorism, it probably wasnt. (again no disrespect to the victims or survivors and how they felt during and after)

because there are markers to the structure. threats, targets and presumably the desire to not go through with the threat if you get what you want
