Impeachment proceedings would make me feel pretty good, even recognizing they probably wouldn’t result in even a single Republican vote for conviction in the Senate (side note: who knew that when Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose votes, he meant the Senate). However, I think Hoyer/Pelosi have a pretty good handle on the practical impacts: namely, it wouldn’t get anywhere in the Senate; it would be used as a rallying cry by the GOP; and possibly most importantly, the media would report through a “It’s just politics” lens. I think it could do more harm than good.
